Edith Grace Edwards, 77, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020 at her residence surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born on October 13, 1942 in Princeton, Indiana, the daughter of Victor and Geraldine Opal (Tewell) Brothers.  She married Claude Calvin Edwards on August 23, 1960 in Shawnee Town, Illinois and together they enjoyed thirty-seven years of marriage before his passing.

Edith loved her family and treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren.  Among her hobbies, Edith enjoyed listening to music, dancing and especially loved karaoke.  Edith, would read to the blind on the college radio station and also worked at the Courthouse.  In her younger years, she worked at Meisner’s and she was also a service station attendant.   Edith will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Edith will be remembered by her daughters, Betsy Wilkinson of Owensville, IN, Tina Edwards of Terre Haute, IN; eight grandchildren, Christina (Joseph) Smith, Whitney (Steve) Hamm, Mason (Bailee Peacock) Van Matre, Amanda (Chris) Tomes, Omar (Monica) Bahlool, Aysha Bahlool, Ahlea Bahlool, and Alexandria Edwards; eleven greatgrandchildren, Madison, Levi, Alisha, Nathan, Hannah, Sophia, Amelia, Xavier, Ella, Mia and Liam; one great great grandchild, Nyla; special friend, Charles Green; daughter in law, Gloria Edwards of Mount Carmel; sisters, Evelyn Edwards of Longview, TX, Hazel Allen of Owensville, IN and Alice Romero of Tucson, AZ; many loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Ronald Edwards; brother, Bob Brothers; sisters, Dorothy Jackson, Betty Brothers, and Mary Lou Brothers.

In keeping with Edith’s wishes, cremation will take place and no formal services will be held at this time.
