Raymond H. “Ray” Larkin, 75

Raymond H. “Ray” Larkin, 75, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care & Rehab. He was born on September 2, 1944 in Omaha, Illinois, the son of Harvey and Mary Elva (Brown) Larkin.

Ray married Carolyn (Odom) Larkin on April 10, 1971 and together they enjoyed forty-nine years of marriage. Ray faithfully served his country in the United States Marines. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ray loved spending time outdoors, fishing and hunting. He also loved to travel with his family. Ray loved staying active swimming at the Wabash College Pool where he made many friendships.

Ray was a dedicated worker at Pacific Press & Shear where he worked for thirty plus years. He was a graduate of Carmi High School Class of 1963. Ray was a faithful member of Mount Carmel Church of Christ and was active in the Joy Bus Ministry and helping with many church projects throughout the years. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Carolyn Larkin of Mount Carmel; son, Aaron Larkin and wife, Tiffany of Albion; one grandson, Jackson Larkin; brother, Bob Larkin and wife, Pat; sisters, Jean Ann James and husband, Floyd and Naoma Mattingly; many loved nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Larkin; sisters, Lois Dunnagan, Edna Ruth Larkin and infant sister, Janis Larkin.

Due to the current COVID 19 mandated restrictions, we are unable to provide the type of service that Ray deserves. A private family Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with a private Graveside Service to follow at Antioch Cemetery on Friday, May 1, 2020 with Pastor Jim Burns officiating. Full Military Honors will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ray’s memory to the Mount Carmel Church of Christ. Envelopes will be at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.

The family would welcome sympathy cards which can also be mailed to the funeral home. Keepes Funeral Home is serving the family with the arrangements.
