Oril “Chad” Dent, 73

Oril “Chad” Dent, 73, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana surrounded by the love of his family.  He was born on August 16, 1947, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the son of Oril W. and Mary (Brock) Dent.  Chad married Sheila Harms on May 18, 1974 and together they enjoyed forty-six years of marriage.

Chad was a loving husband, father and grandfather who treasured time with his family.  He faithfully served his Country in the United States Air Force.  Chad loved attending games at the “Snakepit” and cheering on the MCHS football team.  He also enjoyed following the Pike Central Chargers football team where his grandson, Jagar played.  Chad was a hard worker and loved his job with Bates Brothers Farms as a truck driver.  He was a member of Pentecostal Faith Assembly.  Chad was always the life of any party, laughing and loved to have a good time with his family and friends.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Chad will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sheila Dent; two sons, Dustin (Shannon Sander) Dent of Jasper, IN and Glen Eliptico of Denver, CO; two daughters, Mysti (David) Marsh of Bicknell, IN and Holly (Jason) Smith of Petersburg, IN; ten grandchildren, Dakota Dent, Lexee Dent, Jagar Dent, Austin Skelton, Jena Pauw, John Pauw IV, Denna Pauw, Chelsie Lester, Caleb Lester and Connor Lester; two brothers, Lawrence Dent and Greg Dent; two sisters, Loretta (Henry) Miley and Bonita (Randy) Smith; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Chad was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Diane Dent.

A private family Visitation and Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2020 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Full Military Honors.  Following the service, in keeping with Chad’s wishes, cremation will take place.
