George A. Dooley, 66

George A. Dooley, 66, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at his residence surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born April 14, 1954, the son of William Elza and Delores Rosetta (Sherman) Dooley in Germany.    George proudly served in the U.S. Army for three years.  He married Kathy J. Porter April 14, 1997, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

George worked over his lifetime at Rubel Sawmill, oilfield, Snap-On Tools and retired in 2014 as a boilermaker from Zachery.  He enjoyed woodworking and watching wildlife.  His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren.  He and Kathy attended Gospel Kingdom Church.  He will be missed by his fur nephew, Odie.

George is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kathy; daughter, Sara (Jeremy) Rigg; step-daughter, Billie and Scott Mayberry; siblings, William Dooley and Dene (Jeff) Swarens; grandchildren, Trevor (Casey) Cooper, Brandon (Britney) Cooper, Nate (Brynn) Cooper, Cody (Abbi) Summers and Rashell (Tavis) Alka; and greatgrandchildren Marlee Persinger, Conrad Cooper, Sophia Summers, Landon Cooper, Maverick Cooper, Nylah Cooper, Kasen Cooper and Myles Burton; stepmother Marlene Dooley; and several nieces and nephews

He is preceded in death by his parents; son Joshua Dooley; and a stepdaughter Sheri Knapp.

There will be a public graveside service with military honors on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
