Robert Donne Leo Mann, 88
Robert Donne Leo Mann, 88, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at his residence with his wife and son, Matthew Mann by his side. He was born on July 15, 1931 in Wabash County, Illinois, the son of Franklin and Mattie (Leek) Mann. He graduated from Allendale High School Class of 1950. Don married Janet Rigg on November 10, 1960 at the E.U.B. Church in Mount Carmel.
Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family was his number one priority and he treasured the time he spent with them. A strong work ethic was a trait Don carried with him throughout his life. He began working at the age of twelve and retired in 1996. Don worked in road construction as a heavy equipment operator and worked for over twenty-five years at Mount Carmel Sand & Gravel. Among Don’s hobbies, he loved working in his garden and tinkering on things around his house. He was a proud member of the IUOE # 841 since 1957. Don was a faithful member of E.U.M. Church in Mount Carmel, IL. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Don will be remembered by his loving wife of fifty eight years, Janet Mann; three sons, Michael (Julia) Mann of Glen Ellyn, IL, Monte (Helen) Mann of Acworth, GA and Matthew (Julie) Mann of Mount Carmel; ten grandchildren, Emily (Eric) Shekarabi, Jillian Mann, Elizabeth (Jeremy) McClung, Jonathon Mann, Bryce Mann, Clayton Mann, Maggie Mann, Gracie Mann, Silas Mann and Titus Mann; one great grandchild, Valerie Mink; brother in law, Phillip Parks; two sister in laws, Mary Mann and Dixie Mann; several loved nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Parks; brothers, Dennis Mann and Dean Mann.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the E.U.M. Church in Mount Carmel with Pastor Jeremy Henson and Pastor Bill Bunnage officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Don’s memory to E.U.M Church or Safe Haven.
