James E. “Jim” Neigh, 77

James E. “Jim” Neigh, 77, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away at Daviess Community Hospital, Washington, Indiana, from Parkinson’s on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.

He was born August 27, 1941, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, to James L. and Elizabeth (Pallam) Neigh. Jim was married to Adah Cotner.

Jim proudly served his country as a staff Sargent with the United States Marine Corps. He was a flight engineer aboard a C-130 transport and refueling aircraft during his two tours of duty in Viet Nam.

Following his discharge from the Marine Corps, Jim continued to serve his community as a law enforcement officer both in Florida and North Carolina. He was a licensed Amateur Radio Operator for over 60 years and developed a fast and deep friendship with Mark Majors. They would talk early every morning as Mark drove to work over the past ten years.

Jim is survived by his wife Adah; sister, Jean (Bob) Perkins in California; son, Jimmy in Georgia; and, daughter, Nancy (Jeff) Sams and their two sons, Rylan and Conner in Macon, Georgia; and, Adah’s daughter, Amanda (Eric) Schmidt in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
