Clifford Franklin Malcolm, 93

Clifford Franklin Malcolm, 93, of Westfield, Indiana, formerly of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away December 26, 2019, with his loving daughter at his side.

He was born August 11, 1926, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the son of Clifford and Gladys (Veihman) Malcolm. Clifford was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School class of 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served aboard the U.S.S. Antietam in the Pacific Ocean during WWII.

On August 25, 1946, Clifford married Joan Parker in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. They were married 53 years before her passing on May 6, 1999. He then married Gayle (Kennard) Malcolm on November 22, 2002, until her passing on May 9, 2010.

After his discharge from the Navy, Clifford went to college and became a podiatrist serving many patients in the Mt. Carmel area. He was a member of the Elks Club and was a past Exalted Ruler.

He will always be remembered as the best Santa Claus EVER! He was Santa for a lot of families over the years and loved every minute of it!

In 2011, he moved to Westfield, Indiana, at Sanders Glen Assisted Living. He made many, many friends there and was loved by all.

Left to cherish Clifford’s memory is his children, Kimberly Stephens and her husband Scott, Joy Hocking and her husband Steve, and, Jackie Fewkes and her husband Marvin; grandchildren, Craig Stephens and Doug Stephens, Wayne (Whitney) Hocking, Cassie Hocking, Justin (Mindy) Hocking and Dillion and Allison Pearson; bother, Robert (Barbara) Malcolm; several nieces and nephews; and too many friends to mention.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; wife Joan of 53 years of marriage, and, wife Gayle of seven years of marriage.

Funeral services for Clifford will be held Saturday, December 28, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the funeral service at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
