Evalyn I. Allen, 83

Evalyn I. Allen, 83, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 at her residence. She was born in Patton, Illinois on December 11, 1935 the daughter of Elva and Wyaneda (Wilson) Nanney.

Evalyn worked for twenty-nine years at Wabash General Hospital in the admissions department before her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed yard work and decorating the yard with ornaments that she had made. Evalyn liked to crochet and made many gifts for her family and friends. She enjoyed daily exercise of riding her bicycle three miles a day. Evalyn loved her family deeply and was very proud of all of them. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Evalyn will be lovingly remembered by her children, Paul (Teri Viloa) Allen, David (Shelly) Allen, Sharon (Joey) Grama, Debra Allen, fourteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brother, Eldon (Debra) Nanney; sisters, Pamela Edwards, Donna Orr; son-in-law, Jeff Gray; many loved nieces and nephews and a special neighbor, Kevin Baize, who was like a son to Evalyn.

Evalyn was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cynthia Gray; sisters, Norma Jean McCrary and Phyllis Morgan.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 5:00p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 31, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Snelling officiating. In keeping with Evalyn’s wishes, cremation will take place and a private family Burial Service will take place at Allendale Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Evalyn’s memory to the Wabash General Hospital Foundation. Envelopes will be at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
