Karen Young, 67, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN surrounded by the love of the family.  She was born on March 11, 1951 in White County, Illinois the daughter of Wayne and Eva (Bryant) Bryant.  Karen married Howard Young, Jr. on November 23, 1968 and they enjoyed fifty years of marriage.

Karen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart and she loved spending time with them.  Karen made many friendships while working at the Walnut Street Diner and the Midway Café.  She also worked at Federal Assembly and Dollar General where she enjoyed helping others.  Karen will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Karen will be remembered by her husband, Howard Young of Mount Carmel; two sons, Kevin (Angie Gillete) Young of Keensburg, IL and Allen (Lisett) Young of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Kiara, Danielle and Rylee; brother, Lee (Naomi) Frymire of Evansville, IN; sister, Glenda (Larry) Maynard of Odin, IL; and special friend, Susan Carey.  Karen was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Phyllis Stockton.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Allan Wright officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
