Bonita F. Duncan, 96

Bonita F. Duncan, 96, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away peacefully on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care & Rehab surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on November 16, 1921 in Owensboro, Kentucky the daughter of John R. and Lena P. (Shoulders) Foster.  Bonita married Clarence E. Duncan on October 6, 1940 in Owensboro, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2012.  Bonita and Clarence spent many years travelling to Florida during the winter months.  While in Florida, they made many friendships and enjoyed playing bridge and shuffle board.

Bonita will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She looked forward to family gatherings where she loved to bake for her family.  Bonita also enjoyed working in the garden and spent a lot of time filling the pantry with all the items she canned.  Bonita had a great sense of humor and truly enjoyed helping people.   She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star a fraternal organization through the Masonic Lodge.  Bonita was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Carmel.

Bonita will be lovingly remembered by her son, Norm “Bud” (Nancy) Duncan of Hot Springs, AR; two daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Brown and Norma Goodson both of Mount Carmel; grandchildren, Denise McCreary of Vincennes, IN, Stefanie (Kenneth) Gladney of St. Ann, MO; Ryan Duncan of New York City, NY and Brandon Duncan of San Diego, CA; one great granddaughter, Megan Flaherty.

Bonita was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of seventy-one years, Clarence; brothers, John, Joseph and Tommy Foster.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2018 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Freels officiating.   Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery where Bonita will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Clarence.

Family and friends may gather for a Visitation from 12:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2018 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bonita’s memory to Residential Hospice or to the Lunch Wagon.  Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 N. Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
