Donald “Donnie” Louis Brines, 75

Donald Brines, 75, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the United Methodist Village South Campus in Lawrenceville, Illinois where he had spent the last four years.  He was born in Cowling Illinois on November 22, 1942 the son of Claris and Gladys (Brent) Brines.

Don served his country in the United States Army as a young man, spending his time in Germany and bringing home many stories that he loved to tell.  After he was discharged, he owned his own television repair store in Grayville Illinois.  After the store closed, he began farming for Larry Hocking, where he stayed for thirty-two years.  Donald loved fishing, arrowhead hunting, rabbit and squirrel hunting, watching NASCAR races on Sunday and above all else, he loved his family.  He was an amazing man who was loved by all who knew him and he will be dearly missed

Don is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, Marsha (Graddy) Brines; children,  David (Clint Harney) Brines, Sue Johnson, Steven (Tanja) Williams, Rebecca (Jay Carter) Brines and Sarah (Kevin) Leap; grandchildren, Alysha (Jaron) Lazo, Cami Carter, Stephanie (Joe) Logsdon, Shaneah (Scott Barnes) Williams, Michael Williams, Cassandra Williams, Randy Goodman, William Goodman, Kaitlyn Leap, Jesse Leap and eleven great-grandchildren with one more on the way.  Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Delbert (Sharon) Brines, Pat Clodfelter, Raymond (Linda) Brines, Betty (Terry) Doty, Nancy (Don) Daniel, Sally (Danny) Daniel and Mary (Larry) Hutchcraft.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Kell; brother in law, Bob Clodfelter and one infant brother.  

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral home with Pastor Bobby Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery in Cowling Illinois.

Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home

Memorial contributions may be made in Donald’s memory to the Auten Center of the United Methodist Village, 1616 Cedar Street, Lawrenceville, IL  62439.  Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mt. Carmel, IL  62863.
