Margie M. Jones, 87, of Mt. Carmel passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at her residence.

She was born February 23, 1931, in Bruceville, Indiana, the daughter of Perry and Elsie (Schmulbach) Van Matre.  On July 12, 1950, Margie married Robert Jones in Mt. Carmel.  He preceded her in death.  Margie loved yard work including working in her flower garden.

Left to cherish Margie’s memory is her children David P. Jones and wife Ann, Donald R. Jones and wife Brenda, Darrell W. Jones and wife Beth, all of Mt. Carmel, and, Janet Keyes and husband Brent of Brownstown, Illinois; twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters and six brothers.

Family and friends may call for visitation Thursday, March 1, 2018, from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street.  The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with burial in Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive.
