Woman Jailed Following Domestic Disturbance

01/14/2019-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 48 year old Sarah A. Keenan of Mt. Carmel after police were called to the 600 block of Mulberry Street in reference to a domestic disturbance.  Police arrived on scene and were told that Keenan struck a family member during an argument.  Keenan was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was held pending the posting of bond.  Police were assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff's Office.

Speeding Leads To Arrest Of Mt. Carmel Woman In Gibson County

On January 14, 2019, at 11:39 a.m. Gibson County Deputy Zach Lienemann and Sgt. Bruce Vanoven conducted a traffic stop on a Red 1999 Mercury Hatch back for speeding on US 41 near County Road 100 West. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Lienemann began a roadside investigation. At the conclusion of his investigation a female passenger was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail after drug paraphernalia was found on her. During his investigation the female provided a false name and identity in an attempt to conceal the fact that she had a parole hold out of Illinois. However during the booking process the female was identified as 25 year old Jennifer Jones of Mount Carmel, Illinois. Ms. Jones was charged with Possession of Paraphernalia and Deception. She remains in custody on the Illinois Department of Parole hold. 

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

WVC FOUNDATION HOSTING DINNER DANCE FEBRUARY 9

The Wabash Valley College Foundation will host its annual  Dinner Dance  on Saturday, February 9 in the Mabel A. Courter Youth Center Anderson Building.  Social Hour will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner at 7, with an evening of great music for dining and dancing from 8:00 – 11:00 p.m.   This event has become “the social event of the year” in the community and promises to be an elegant evening of exquisite dining and dancing to the great music of The Scott Mason Band.

No need to worry about what to give your sweetheart for Valentine’s Day!  Take your sweetheart to the Dinner Dance!  Tickets are $150 per couple, and single tickets are available.  Tickets are available from any Foundation Director or in the Administration/Foundation Building on the WVC Campus, or by calling Louise Acree at 263-4999, extension 3379.  In order to allow time for table seating arrangements, it is requested that tickets be purchased by Monday, February 4. 

While offering the community this opportunity to attend “the social event of the year,” the Foundation has raised nearly $300,000 with the Dinner Dance to help with WVC projects through the years.  The Foundation’s contributions to the capital development of the College include:  Purchase of the site for the WVC Campus, Applied Arts Building, Student Center, Bookstore, Physical Plant, Indoor Pool, Tennis Courts, Valley Gardens Dorms, International Building, Machine Shop Technology Building, Advanced Technology Center, Performing Arts, Lighting for Brubeck Arts Center Theatre, Commencement Receptions, Food Services Equipment, Biology Lab Renovation, Chemistry Lab Renovation, Library Materials, Linkage between WVC-TV and Cable TV, WVC-TV material, Parking Lots, Building Improvements, Athletic Fields,  Vehicles, Library Security System, Fitness Center, Electronic Marquee, Scholarship Program, Administration/Foundation Building, Amphitheatre, Foundation Donor Recognition Wall, and many ongoing projects. 

 

The 30-member Foundation Board also includes a Faculty Representative and Arts Council Representative as well as the President of the College. County Commissioners Call Special Meeting

A special Wabash County Commissioners meeting will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the City of Mt Carmel Administration Building.

The meeting is being held for the purposes of “Negotiations between the City of Mt. Carmel, County of Wabash, and Wabash County Emergency Telephone System Board regarding the Law Enforcement Facility/Dispatch Agreement and the 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatch Facility Agreement”.

Crimestoppers Looking For Help In Taco Tierra Break In

The Mt. Carmel Police Department is investigating a burglary to the Mt. Carmel Taco Tierra. The burglary occurred on 12/29/2018 at approximately 11:43pm. Surveillance cameras show the suspect entering the rear of the building. The suspect grabbed an undetermined amount of cash before exiting the rear of the store. The suspect is then observed walking northeast from Taco Tierra. The Wabash County Crime Stoppers will pay $300.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect. Hitchhiker Lands In Jail After Incident With Deputy

On 01.09.19 at 5:05 p.m. Deputy Keagan Bogard stopped to assist a male that was hitch hiking on Highway 1 near E 1200 Rd.  Deputy Bogard attempted to stop the male and offer him a ride.  The male identified as 60 year old Thomas E. Graves of Mt. Carmel, became belligerent and uncooperative with the deputy.  Graves was cited for hitchhiking and taken into custody and charged with resisting a peace officer.  Graves is currently waiting for a first appearance in Wabash County Court for a bail setting.
